The Queenstown region is becoming so popular as a destination in New Zealand and for us as locals we struggle with the rapid growth in visitor numbers to this region. So it is with some reluctance perhaps that I mention a couple of places / locations where you can experience the Real NZ.
There first is to come on a day tour with us to travel over High Country farmlands visiting Mt Earnslaw Station. See the lake view below looking toward Mt Earnslaw and Mt Alfred at the western end of Lake Wakatipu. Here you can hike in the mountains, have some of the most spectacular photographic locations in front of you and if your are a LOTR buff get near and close with some of those famous locations.
Alternatively consider the North Otago area for Oamaru and the Whitestone historic precinct of the town. Amazing limestone buildings built during the craftsman stonemasonry era of the late 1800’s and Elephant Rocks in an isolated rural location these amazing limestone rock formations eroded by wind and rain over hundreds of years in a rural pastoral farming district.
